Participating in sports comes with increased risk of injury. If you suffer a blow to the face or if you fail to wear a mouthguard during the required times, you could end up with a fractured tooth. If the fracture is small, Dr. Angela Catalano might be able to apply a standard filling to fix it.

A more significant dental fracture or a chip in an essential location might need a total dental crown restoration. A dental crown is designed to fully replace the entire tooth enamel layer with an artificial material like gold, porcelain or base metals.

After a thorough examination, Dr. Angela Catalano will numb the area and use a drill to remove the entirety of the tooth enamel layer. This leaves behind an abutment containing the dentin, pulp and root of the tooth.

A detailed impression will be made of the area to serve as a guide for a dental lab technician who will create your new crown. At the end of the appointment, Dr. Angela Catalano will secure a temporary crown over the abutment to protect it.

Once the lab tech has completed your crown, will need to come back in to have the temporary crown removed. Dr. Angela Catalano will then cement your final crown in place with a special dental adhesive.

If you live in Las Vegas, Nevada, and you’ve suffered a fractured tooth, you should call (702) 508-0191 to have it examined and treated at Innovative Dentistry.
